75 Years of Longley Farm

75 Years of Longley Farm

Next Saturday (7/29/23) we will be celebrating our headquarters Longley Farm 75th anniversary.

It all starts in 1948 when the two brothers Joseph and Edgar Dickinson founded LongleyFarm.

They inherited a 30-acre farm near Holmfirth in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Initially, they farmed the land and with a small herd of Jersey cows began producing cream in 1954, after food rationing had ended since World War II.

Then they diversified into making yogurt as well. In a couple of years, after a visit by Joseph Dickinson to a dairy in the United States, they also started producing cottage cheese.

Today, with a wide portfolio of products and under the leadership of Robert, son of Joseph, Longley Farm and all its units celebrate their origins! 🇬🇧

Visit from LSQA Dejamos Huella

Visit from LSQA Dejamos Huella

Today we received Carolina Lasa, auditor of LSQA Dejamos Huella for the certification of the use of the Country Brand “Uruguay” managed together with Uruguay XXI. Focusing on good business management practices, the Uruguay Country Brand seeks to evaluate the added value of national companies and ensure their continuous improvement. The survey of the certificate is based on 4 dimensions:

▶️ Leadership and Management
▶️ Sustainability
▶️ Origin
▶️ Export Capacity

We are happy to start the process and be able to join the group of Uruguayan companies that promote the country and distinguish itself in its different fields. And happier for the opportunity to do that as from a dairy farm to be able to contribute to such a strategic industry to the world.

The focus of the training was:

Topics that transcend dairy but are so present in our routine.

Jersey selling

Jersey selling

Last week, in the midst of visits and our routine, 1️⃣0️⃣ pregnant heifers were sold. In addition to being very happy to continue to disseminate the #jersey breed and our genetics in Uruguay, this selling has two more details that make us VERY proud:
1️⃣ the buyer is the same producer as last year;
2️⃣ the lot we had for sale had already calved and even so, the producer was interested in taking a lot of heifer pregnated by one of our bulls.

Why is this so important? Because even though they are not pregnant with sexed semen, which increases the chances of being born female, valuing the acquisition, the producer wanted these ones. Besides, being naturally pregnant with our bull is a double demonstration of the confidence in our genetics.

It’s a lot of happiness in a single shipment🥳🎉
